Closing the Week in Kroni: What Happens and What Your Child Sees

When you close the week, Kroni saves a summary of the week that just ended. You can also add a short, optional note to your child. That's all it does. Closing the week does not approve pending chores. It does not pay allowance, reset the balance or change the allowance schedule. Allowance follows its own schedule whether you close the week or not.
Think of it as putting a small period at the end of the week. Your child gets to see what was done, and maybe a line from you about something you noticed.
What "Close the week" does and doesn't do
Three things tend to happen around the same time, and they're easy to mix up. This table keeps them apart:

Kroni keeps track of virtual coins, savings goals and the rewards you've agreed on. It isn't a bank and doesn't transfer money. If you swap coins for dollars, you do that yourself.
Step 1: Look over the week before you close it
Take two minutes to read through the week before you tap anything. Look for two things:
- What's been completed, whether you approved it or it didn't need approval. This is what your note will be based on.
- What's still waiting for approval. These are chores your child checked off that you haven't looked at yet.
Deal with pending chores separately. Approve the ones that were done, or talk with your child about any that don't add up. Closing the week won't sort these out for you. If a paid chore is still pending, your child hasn't received the coins for it yet. You'll want to know that before you write that it was a great week.
The app shows the dates for each week. You can close whichever week the app shows as available.
Step 2: Write one specific sentence (if you want to)
The note is optional, and skipping it some weeks is completely fine. If you do write something, short notes about something you actually saw usually work best.
A few simple rules of thumb:
- Mention one specific thing. "You emptied the dishwasher three times without a reminder" says more than "good job."
- Describe the effort, not the person. Write about what your child did, not who they are.
- Don't compare with siblings. Each child gets their own week and their own note.
- Leave out blame. A quiet week doesn't need a comment about what was missing. If something needs to change, bring it up in a conversation.
- Reread before you save. Your child might show the note to other people.
A fictional example: Emma's week (age 9)
This week is made up to show how it might look. The coin amounts are examples only, not recommended rates.

Before closing the week, Mom sees that Friday's chore is still pending. She checks, confirms the dishwasher was emptied, and approves it. With Friday approved, the paid chores add up to 33 coins. Then she writes her note and closes the week. Emma's scheduled allowance arrives as usual. Closing the week has nothing to do with it.
Three example notes
All three are fictional, and each one points to specific chores.
1. A busy week (Emma, 9):
"You fed the cat every time it was your turn, even on Sunday when we got home late. And sorting the recycling on Saturday went a lot faster with you."
2. A week with one new chore (Sam, 12):
"First time cleaning the bathroom on your own. You remembered the mirror and took the trash out afterward. I noticed."
3. A week with little logged (Mia, 6):
"It was a quiet week with a birthday party and visitors. You helped carry the grocery bags in on Thursday, and that was nice."
The third note doesn't mention anything that didn't get done. Some weeks are just like that. If the chores don't suit your child, the list of what kids can do at home by age can help you adjust. Keep in mind that every child is different, and you know yours best.
What your child sees afterward
Once the week is closed, your child can see the weekly summary, plus your note if you wrote one. The balance stays where it was, and savings goals are unchanged. Any chores you haven't approved are still waiting.
If your family shares one device, your child sees this when they open their own profile. They don't need their own email address.
If you want to share a weekly card with grandparents or anyone else, check what's on it first. Don't assume that everything you can share is private.
A simple routine to start this week
You don't need an elaborate routine. This is enough:
- Pick a regular time, such as Sunday evening after dinner.
- Check pending chores, then approve them or talk about them.
- Read through what got done and find one thing you noticed.
- Write one sentence, or skip it this week.
- Close the week.
- Pay real money outside the app, but only if that's what you've agreed on.

Frequently asked questions
- Does my child get their allowance when I close the week?
- No. Allowance follows its own schedule, and closing the week doesn't change it. If you've agreed to pay real money, you always do that yourself outside the app.
- Are pending chores approved when the week is closed?
- No. You need to approve pending chores or talk them over with your child separately. Check them before you close the week so you know what's actually been recorded.
- Do I have to write a note every week?
- No, the note is optional. If you write one, a single specific sentence about something you saw your child do is enough. Don't compare them with their siblings.
