Price per sheet or printed side: count both sides before comparing

2 min read

A sheet can have printing on one or both sides. If two offers use different units, your child must count the right quantity for each. Identical sheet counts do not necessarily mean identical charged print counts.

Six sheets can mean twelve printed sides

In a hypothetical example, your child wants six personal sheets printed on both sides. A costs 3 units per printed side. B costs 5 per sheet with both sides included. The arbitrary prices and terms are invented, with identical paper and quality and no further charges.

Six sheets with two sides make 6 × 2 = 12 printed sides. A therefore costs 12 × 3 = 36 units. B costs 6 × 5 = 30. B is 6 cheaper for this order.

Calculating A as 6 × 3 = 18 would cover only six printed sides. That is half the twelve required. The label “3” is lower than “5”, but the figures refer to different units.

Describe the order using both counts

A practical snag is requesting “six prints” without specifying sheets or sides. Write “six sheets, twelve printed sides” on the checking sheet and verify that the quote covers this.

If your child instead needs six single-sided sheets, A costs 6 × 3 = 18. Under the same fixed sheet price, B still costs 30. A is then cheaper. The choice changes because the requirement changes rather than because one offer is always best.

Check actual terms before ordering, particularly whether a blank reverse is charged and what is included. Do not assume this exercise's inclusion rule applies to another supplier.

Ask your family: “Is this price for a physical sheet or each side that will actually be printed?”

Carry the calculation into your family agreement

Kroni can keep track of your child's virtual balance. The app does not transfer money, so any actual purchase is paid for outside it. Agree on what you will record, then check the amount with your child afterwards. Do not deduct a possible cost as though the purchase had already happened. Read about allowance in Kroni.
