The quantity is undecided: make a budget range before ordering

Even with a known item price, the total remains uncertain if your child has not chosen the quantity. Do not treat the smallest possible purchase as a confirmed order. Calculate both ends of the plan.
Find what the two quantities cost
In a hypothetical example, your child considers between two and five optional labels for a personal paper project. Each label costs 8 units, and one delivery costs 12 regardless of quantity within that range. The arbitrary prices and terms are invented.
Two labels cost 2 × 8 + 12 = 28 units. Five cost 5 × 8 + 12 = 52. The possible cost therefore ranges from 28 to 52 rather than having one price of 28.
Your child has a budget of 45. Three labels cost 36 and four cost 44. Five at 52 exceed the budget by 7. Under these terms, four is the largest quantity that fits.
Agree quantity before paying
A practical snag is saying “it only cost 28” after adding five to the order. The 28 applied to two and cannot become the price for five. Write quantity beside each total rather than recording prices alone.
If quantity only becomes clear after choosing the design, set a rule for this order: at most four labels, or another discussion before ordering more. That makes the boundary concrete without pretending uncertainty is already resolved.
Also examine delivery on the actual order. This exercise assumes identical delivery for two to five; if real terms change it, update every total.
A range is a planning tool. Once an order is confirmed, replace the range with its actual quantity and final amount. Do not record both the upper estimate and the actual payment as separate expenses.
Ask your family: “Which quantity belongs to the price we show, and what is the maximum permitted quantity in this plan?”
Carry the calculation into your family agreement
Kroni can keep track of your child's virtual balance. The app does not transfer money, so any actual purchase is paid for outside it. Agree on what you will record, then check the amount with your child afterwards. Do not deduct a possible cost as though the purchase had already happened. Read about allowance in Kroni.
