Empty bottle carriers and handles: give clean parts one fixed home

2 min read

An empty bottle carrier may remain by the door long after its bottles are put away. A loose carrying handle may end up in another drawer. A child can gather familiar empty carriers and return clean, dry parts to one agreed home. This task concerns returning items rather than carrying full bottles or making repairs.

Identify which parts belong together

An adult demonstrates the carriers and any separate handles the first time. Place only familiar parts on the work surface. An unidentified part waits in the decision area. Do not attach a handle merely because its width appears right.

Check that the carrier is actually empty before moving it. Any remaining bottles or other objects are handled by agreement with an adult. Your child should not have to lift a full carrier to complete this small tidying task.

Separate damp items from storage-ready ones

Familiar clean, dry carriers can go directly to their home. Damp parts belong in the household's drying area. Report visible spills or dirt; washing can be a separate agreed job. Do not enclose damp components in a bag to move them out of sight.

Place carriers low and stable, with their openings visible. Handles stored separately can occupy a small labelled box alongside them. Your child should be able to retrieve one without emptying the shelf. Keep doors and walkways clear.

Mina finds two empty carriers and a loose handle. She puts the dry carriers on the shelf, places the familiar handle in its box and reports a damp component waiting to dry. Next time the household avoids searching three rooms.

When a part behaves differently

Give an adult a handle that is loose, cracked or difficult to attach. Avoid forcing it or making a temporary fastening. An adult decides what can be used before the carrier returns to use.

Finished means familiar dry equipment returned and concerns reported. “Return the bottle carriers” in Kroni can use that endpoint even while an adult still needs to examine a handle.
