Wastebasket liners: put clean spares in the agreed place
By Erik Nilsen · Kroni2 min read
When a wastebasket needs another liner, searching several cupboards is inconvenient. A child can check an agreed reserve area and put familiar clean bags there. This is a supply task. Emptying waste and assessing the basket's contents follow a separate agreement.
Choose the bag and location together
An adult shows which bags belong to the basket and where the spare pack goes. Use the household's established choice rather than guessing sizes or finding a random used bag. A simple label can name the basket or room.
The location might be a small box beside the basket or a nearby cupboard chosen by an adult. Keep spare bags separate from used waste and let the next person retrieve one without emptying everything. Do not leave the pack on the floor behind the basket where it disappears.
Check only clean reserves
Look at how many familiar unused bags are in the reserve area. The family might agree on two as a small minimum. If only one remains, bring more from the known supply location. If none remain there either, report the shortage.
Do not reach into the basket to find a bag or identify its contents. Report a full or soiled basket to an adult. Spare bags should remain clean and outside the waste.
Mina finds one clean liner in the box and three on the supply shelf. She moves one into the box so two are ready. She also reports that two now remain on the shelf. Nobody empties the basket or sorts rubbish during this task.
When a bag looks wrong
A torn bag or unfamiliar size goes to an adult for a decision. Do not force it into the basket to demonstrate fit. An adult can show the correct liner during the next agreed change.
Finished means correct clean supplies in their known home and any shortage reported. “Check spare wastebasket liners” in Kroni can use that endpoint. An adult handles missing supplies rather than requiring your child to buy replacement bags.
